Brisik Restaurant@ Jaya One
Brisik Restaurant is located at Jaya One which serves Indonesian cuisine. Again, I know this place through BestFoodJunction.com. After browsing the website of Brisik Restaurant, I found that the ambience is good and the website is completed with their menu and price which I really like it much~ ^^
It was Ee Mei's birthday and I suggested to go there for a try.
The menu is a little bit of 'old' and not really can attract me but luckily I did some research before going there. However, according to the person in charge, their menu is gonna changed soon(which is a good news =p).
The person in charge recommended us 'Satay Serai' as starter(which is not in the menu yet). As the name stated, the satay is 'cucuk' on the serai(citronella) instead of the normal satay stick. So, the satay has the fragrant of serai~ If I not mistaken, it costs RM12 with 6 satays.
As we are 8 people there and finally decided to order their 'hidangan khas' which is a set with starter, drink and dessert of the day. The person in charge recommended us 'Nasi Ambeng' and 'Nasi Tutug Oncom Betawi' with each serves for 4 people.
This is the starter of the set called 'Gado Gado'. As u can see, it comes with eggs, some vege and tofu with the special sauce.
This is the drink called 'Wedang Jahe'. It is just like ginger tea and I quite like it.'Nasi Ambeng' is served with white rice topped with fried chickens surrounded with condiments well known by javanies as food for blessing and to keep four friends closer. These are the four condiments which include fried bean thread noodles, vege, some sour things(not sure what is that) and fried mee.
Another set is 'Nasi Tutug Oncom Betawi'. The rice is special cuz it's not juz normal white rice but mixed with fried tempe and spice serves together with fried chicken, fried tofu, kang kung belacan and ikan masin goreng berlada.
The person in charge specially did the 'ayam penyet' for us instead of the normal fried chicken. 'Ayam Penyet' is also known as 'Smashed Chicken' or 'Flattened Chicken'. This is an authentic Indonesian dish of chicken that is deliberately smashed with a wooden mallet after deep-frying, apparently to loosen the meat from the bone. Finally, this is the dessert of the day. It is made up of papaya cubes and coconut milk. It is nice and tasty. ^^
A free milk tea from the person in charge and according to him, the tea leaf is imported and you almost can only find it in Brisik Restaurant. However, as I don't really drink milk tea so i don't really can find the difference..(so sorry =.=)
8 of us..Happy Birthday to Ee Mei~
Overall, I like the ambiance of this restaurant but I'll choose their other ala-cart menu next time like the most recommended 'Nasi Kampung Brisik' and 'Thai Fried Rice'. It is a good place for nice food and the price is reasonable.
The set of 'Nasi Ambeng' costs RM111 and set of 'Nasi Tutug Oncom Betawi' costs RM99 which come together with starter, drinks and dessert.
